Max-FD Tape

An elastic polyurethane-foam mesh tape that bridges cracks and joints and hides them under your fluid-applied deck membrane.

Max-FD Tape is a highly elastic, multi-directional polyurethane foam mesh tape built to mask and reinforce expansion joints, control joints, cracks, seams, and flashings before a PSI coating goes down. It embeds into the wet basecoat and stretches with the substrate, with 300% multi-directional elongation and crack-bridging that outperforms standard reinforcement tapes. In most cases it lets you bridge failed or moving joints without cutting out and replacing old sealant first.

Center the tape over the joint, crack, or flashing. Lay down a bed of basecoat about 10 mils thick, then gently embed the tape into the wet coating so the resin bleeds through and saturates the mesh. Do not prime over the tape. After two hours or more, apply a second pass of basecoat and feather it smoothly onto the adjacent surface. Coat it the same day it is installed and keep it protected from rain and standing water until it is covered.
