Everflow EF-160 | Moisture Vapor Barrier (3gal)

EF-160 is Everflow's 100% solids epoxy moisture vapor barrier, a two-component primer that seals damp, vapor-emitting concrete and stops the rising slab moisture that causes epoxy delamination and blistering. At 18 mils it exceeds ASTM F3010 and withstands up to 25 lbs per 1000 sq ft per 24 hr, bonds to slabs cured as little as 14 days, and meets requirements for indirect food contact at under 50 g/L VOC.

EF-160 is Everflow's 100% solids epoxy moisture vapor barrier, a two-component primer that seals damp, vapor-emitting concrete so an epoxy or polyaspartic floor bonds and stays bonded. Built for cold, humid conditions and green or poorly prepared slabs, it stops the rising slab moisture that causes delamination and blistering and lays a high-strength foundation for the rest of the system.

Stops rising slab moisture before it fails your floor

Controls moisture vapor
Withstands emission rates up to 25 lbs per 1000 sq ft per 24 hr at 100% RH, preventing the moisture-driven delamination that destroys floor systems.
Exceeds ASTM F3010
At 18 mils it surpasses the industry standard for vapor permeance.
Works on damp or green concrete
Designed for cold, humid conditions and damp or poorly prepared slabs, and bonds to concrete cured as little as 14 days.
Suitable for potable water
Suitable for direct contact with potable water.
High-strength foundation
15,000 psi flexural, 8,000 psi compressive, 6,000 psi tensile, and 80 to 85 Shore D.
Three colors, top-coatable
Clear, grey, and black. Prime first, then build your Everflow floor system on top.

In the kit

  • 3-gallon kit: 7.56 L resin (Part A) plus 3.78 L hardener (Part B)
  • 100% solids two-component epoxy system
  • Available in clear, grey, and black

Frequently Asked Questions

What does a moisture vapor barrier do?

It seals concrete against moisture vapor rising up through the slab. That rising moisture is the leading cause of epoxy delamination, blistering, and bubbling. EF-160 controls it so your floor system bonds and stays bonded.

How much moisture can EF-160 handle?

Applied at 18 mils, it withstands moisture vapor emission rates up to 25 lbs/1000 ft²/24 hrs (100% relative humidity, or 6% by the Tramex method) and exceeds the ASTM F3010 standard for vapor permeance.

Is EF-160 a waterproofing membrane?

No. EF-160 controls moisture vapor but is not a waterproofing membrane and is not designed to resist areas of high hydrostatic pressure. For standing water or hydrostatic conditions, a dedicated waterproofing system is required.

Can I apply it over new concrete?

Yes, it can be applied to concrete cured for a minimum of 14 days. For slabs that are 14 to 28 days old, consult your Latux rep for a deep-penetrating primer. The slab should reach at least 3,635 psi compressive strength.

Is EF-160 safe for potable water contact?

Yes, it is suitable for direct contact with potable water, and it meets requirements for indirect food contact in food-plant environments.

How much does one kit cover?

A 3-gallon kit covers about 264 sq ft at the recommended 18-mil barrier thickness.

Do I need to topcoat EF-160?

Yes, EF-160 is a primer/base coat. Build your Everflow epoxy or polyaspartic floor system on top of it. Like other epoxies it will discolor under UV, so it should be covered by your finish system.

How long before I can recoat or use the floor?

At 68°F you can recoat in 18 to 24 hours, return foot traffic in about a day, vehicle traffic in roughly two days, with full cure in about 7 days.
