Top-Shield 5600ef

A two-component, low-odor, high-solids aliphatic topcoat that finishes your deck with a fast-curing, UV-stable wear layer rated for foot and vehicle traffic.

Top-Shield 5600EF is a two-component, hybrid aliphatic-elastomeric topcoat that lays down the finished wear surface over a PSI waterproofing membrane. It sets fast, cures in hours, and stands up to heavy-duty vehicular decks and ramps as well as pedestrian balconies and breezeways. Formulated to meet ASTM C-957, it delivers a non-gassing finish on properly prepared interior or exterior concrete, plywood, and metal.

Mix Side-A (medium grey) with Side-B (clear) at a 10:1 ratio, then pull it across the deck with a notched squeegee or trowel. It goes down in temperatures as low as 20°F and recoats within 24 hours, so crews keep moving. Low odor and very low VOC (under 60 g/L) make it a fit for occupied buildings, mechanical rooms, and kennels. Carried by Latux, this is the topcoat that closes out a PSI deck system built to last.

Miami-Dade Notice of Acceptance

Miami-Dade County, Florida NOA No. 25-0604.15, expires 03/06/2031 (March 6, 2031).

Top-Shield 5600EF is named in that Notice of Acceptance as the top coat of the Flexideck C-WD waterproofing system from Polytuff Systems International, approved 06/26/2025. The acceptance covers the assembly as a whole on concrete decks. It is not an approval of the top coat used on its own.

The NOA states that the system is designed to comply with the Florida Building Code including the High Velocity Hurricane Zone of the Florida Building Code, to a maximum design pressure of -502.5 psf. In the approved assembly without a tile topping, Top-Shield 5600EF goes on over the base coat at 1 gallon per 100 sq ft, to a minimum coating thickness of 14 ± 2 dry mils. An integrity test to ASTM D 5957 by an approved lab is required.

The NOA also requires, at Limitation 5, that the work be done by a contractor licensed for roofing and waterproofing who is a Manufacturer Trained Qualified Applicator approved and licensed by Polytuff Systems International. Latux is on that approved applicator list, so the company that supplies the system can also install it.

Use it with

Apply over a cured PSI basecoat and membrane system for a complete pedestrian or vehicular deck buildout. Use Enviro-Grip PUR#555 for intercoat adhesion over existing urethane coatings.

What is your return policy?

We do not accept returns. If your order arrives damaged or we shipped the wrong item, we replace it free of charge. Report it within 48 hours of delivery with clear photos or video, and approved replacements are issued within 7 to 10 days. Manufacturing defects are covered separately under our Limited Warranty.
