What a 3-car garage floor needs

• Base coats: EF-100, or EF-150 / EF-155 when the schedule calls for a faster recoat. Size the number of kits from the coverage guide.
• 1 metallic pigment pod per base kit: each 160 gram pod tints one 3-gallon kit
• A polyaspartic topcoat: EF-275 or EF-280 sized to the full footage for a uniform wear surface. Topcoat coverage drops over a flake broadcast, so check the figure on the topcoat you pick.
• Flakes, optional: a 40 pound box covers 200 to 280 square feet at a full broadcast to rejection, so plan on three boxes for a full broadcast at this footage. A partial broadcast runs 1,000 to 2,000 square feet per box, so one box covers the floor if you are going lighter.
• Tools: a flat squeegee, an 18 inch roller with a pack of spare covers, and spike shoes

Order of work

Grind or etch, vacuum, then pour the base one mixed kit at a time and keep a wet edge across the full width so batch lines never set up. Back-roll, broadcast flakes into the wet film if you are running flake, and let it cure. Scrape and vacuum the loose flake, then roll the topcoat wall to wall in one session. Common questions

How many kits does a 3-car garage take?

Measure the slab and decide your film build first, because the kit count follows those two numbers and not the bay count. A thin primer pass covers a lot of ground, a standard solid color build covers less, and a metallic pour covers the least. Run the footage and your target mils through the coverage guide, then round up on rough or porous concrete.

Can one person coat a 3-car garage alone?

It is possible with the fast-cure products and good planning, but the working window is real. Two people, one pouring and spreading and one back-rolling, keep the wet edge alive and get a cleaner floor.
