1-Car Garage Epoxy Kit

A 1-car garage runs about 200 to 250 square feet, and that fits inside a single 3-gallon kit. One EF-100 kit covers 350 to 400 square feet at a standard garage build, so a 1-car floor takes one base kit with margin left over, even after the 10 percent waste cushion we recommend on a smooth slab. Applied as a thin primer coat at 8 to 10 mils, the same kit stretches to 480 to 600 square feet.

What a 1-car garage floor needs

• 1 EF-100 base kit, or EF-150 / EF-155 if you need a faster recoat window or are working in cooler weather
• 1 metallic pigment pod: one 160 gram pod tints one 3-gallon kit, so a single pod colors the whole floor
• 1 polyaspartic topcoat kit, optional but recommended: EF-275 or EF-280 seals the color coat and adds UV and abrasion resistance
• Flakes, optional: a 25 pound box handles a full broadcast at this size
• Tools: a flat squeegee, an 18 inch roller, and spike shoes so you can walk the wet film

Order of work

Grind or etch the slab, vacuum it clean, then mix and pour the base coat. Spread with the squeegee, back-roll with the 18 inch roller, and broadcast flakes into the wet film if you are running a flake floor. Once the base cures, scrape and vacuum loose flake, then roll the topcoat.

Is one kit really enough for a 1-car garage?

Yes, for a standard solid-color build. One 3-gallon kit covers 350 to 400 square feet, well above a 200 to 250 square foot floor. Metallic floors pour thicker and use more material, so size those from the coverage guide.

Do I need the topcoat?

The floor works without it, but a polyaspartic topcoat keeps the finish from ambering near the garage door and takes hot-tire contact and abrasion far better. Most garage installs should include one.
